New Orleans Skyline Video Projection Mapping Project

Posted on Aug 25, 2012

A couple months ago I posted a black and white nighttime shot of the New Orleans skyline. I didn’t reveal then that the photo was part of a cool timelapse project I was working on with the guys from Spitball Media. After seeing one of my other New Orleans skyline timelapse videos, they got in touch to ask if I was interested in contributing to an ambitious “video mapping” project for the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Video mapping is a specialized projection technology that can turn almost any shape or surface into a video display; think building exteriors for instance or almost any custom designed shape or object. The result can be mind-warping visual illusions that transcend the traditional video viewing experience. But … rather than try to explain any further … check out the behind the scenes video below that Spitball Media produced about their project.

Oh … can anyone guess the well-known New Orleans landmark from where I shot the skyline time-lapse?
